the ultimate double breasted jacket: chef’s coat.

although this item is infamously dexter-splattered with pomodoro sauce or scorched and torched at the sleeves it deserves it’s moment of acknowledgment. useful, durable, sharp; a chef’s jacket is meant for work - hard work. and while the textile composition seen above may not boast practicality, please allow it to act as a refreshing remembrance to a specific element of fashion seemingly forgotten.

i am always envious of a chef’s ability to transform himself at a guest’s sporadic request. seamlessly leaving the world of flames, sweat and creation and stepping into one of eatable respect. reversing his jacket buttons to a clean crisp appearance and wiping his brow to the same effect. entering a dining room muffling mishandled silverware and table chatter, he is the target, this is his stage. the chef’s coat his costume, offering him a second introduction - his culinary creations the first. this is his formal attire, this is his shirt and tie.

sometimes, being out of place - is the right place to be.
